Description
Basic Function:
Under general supervision, performs Microbiological Testing of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process bulk, finished products, stability and other special samples.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs the following microbiological testing of in-process bulk, raw materials, finished products, pilot batches, special samples and stability samples based on controlled procedures provided by clients, good laboratory practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the laboratory as assigned by the Department or Section Manager:
a. Vitamin Assay
b. Antibiotic Assay
c. Microbial Count and Microbial Identification
d. Preservative Efficacy Testing
e. Antibiotic Efficacy Testing
2. Performs sampling and testing of Environmental Samples.
3. Performs sampling, testing and monitoring of water for pharmaceutical use.
4. Accomplishes analytical reports of products/samples tested through Legacy or in WinLIMS.
5. Reports immediately unusual observations, out-of-specification or out of trend results to Foreperson and/or Section Manager. Discusses possible cause of these results with the Manager.
6. Reports and discusses any problem encountered in the tests with the Foreperson and/or Section Manager.
7. Prepares and submits status/productivity and daily accomplishment reports to Foreperson.
8. Keeps record of samples received, tested and disposed
9. Keeps record of reagent, culture media consumption and equipment usage.
10. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work areas and surroundings of Micro Lab.
11. Follows good laboratory practices and company policies.
Education:
College education with a Bachelor's Degree in BS Microbiology
BS Biology major in Microbiology, BS Medical Technology or related course
Experience:
Minimum of 1 to 2 years' work experience as Laboratory Analyst in a manufacturing industry would be an advantage preferably Pharmaceutical, Food, and Cosmetics.
