I. Job Purpose:
The Job Purpose of a QAQC Officer II in the nickel ore sample preparation and monitoring division is to meticulously oversee and enforce quality assurance and control procedures throughout the entire sample preparation process. This role is essential in upholding the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of nickel ore samples, ensuring they meet established standards and industry regulations. The QAQC Officer II plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of data generated from ore samples through meticulous quality oversight.
II. Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Quality Control Procedures: Formulate, assess, or revise quality control protocols for the preparation and monitoring of nickel ore samples, seeking approval from the QAQC Manager before their implementation.
2. Sample Preparation: Supervise and monitor the sample preparation process to ensure it follows standardized procedures.
3. Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: Schedule and oversee the calibration of equipment used in the sample preparation and monitoring division. Ensure that all equipment is well-maintained to prevent errors or contamination in the samples.
4. Data Recording and Analysis: Implement a robust system for recording data related to sample preparation and monitoring activities.
5. Quality Assurance Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of quality assurance procedures. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all Sample Prep and Monitoring Division activities. Generate comprehensive reports on the quality and integrity of nickel ore samples.
7. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and standards. Ensure that all Sample Prep and Monitoring Division activities adhere to regulatory requirements and best practices.
8. Training and Development: Provide training to staff involved in sample preparation and monitoring regarding quality control procedures. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting professional development and training opportunities.
9. Collaboration with the Analytical Division: Participate in collaborative initiatives with the Analytical Division to establish uniformity in quality standards. Foster transparent communication, and keep the QAQC Manager well-informed about all issues and concerns, facilitating the resolution of any quality-related issues that may emerge.
10. Health and Safety: Ensure that all QAQC Sample Prep and Monitoring Division activities prioritize health and safety protocols. Identify and mitigate potential hazards related to sample preparation and monitoring.
11. Environmental Compliance: Implement measures to minimize the environmental impact of sample preparation activities. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
12. Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in sample preparation and monitoring. Implement changes based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
13. When designated as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the QAQC Department in the absence of the QAQC Manager-particularly during the manager's scheduled leave, business meetings, or emergency leaves-the assigned responsibilities are confined to overseeing daily operations and local procurement. The OIC is not authorized to make decisions on the recruitment of new personnel, whether rank and file or probationary, approve the acquisition of significant equipment, or make any major decisions without obtaining prior approval from the QAQC Manager;
14. Act as the substitute for the QAQC Officer I during scheduled leave or days off in the Sample Preparation and Monitoring Division shift.;
15. Reviews monthly report for samples received and other pertinent data requested by QAQC Manager;
16. Manage inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to the Sample Prep and Monitoring Division's activities and ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
17. Ensures compliance with environmental health and safety standards including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of ore wastes;
18. Observe company rules, regulations, and policies on work ethics, safety, health, and environmental concerns.
19. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the QAQC Manager either in support of departmental or company goals;
I. Job Specifications
The candidate must be/have:
a. Education:
Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
b. Experience and Competencies:
The candidate should hold a valid Chemical Engineering license and possess extensive
expertise in nickel ore sample preparation and monitoring. External applicants must
demonstrate a minimum of three years of experience as a QAQC Supervisor/Officer.
c. Skills and Attitude:
Supervisory Skills needed.
Willing to relocate to Brooke's Point Palawan
