Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is to execute food safety programs at Slaughtering and meat cutting plant, which include daily pre-operation inspections, quality checks, food safety training, food safety management systems implementation which includes but are not limited to GMP & SSOP completion, HACCP coordination, monitoring & verification of CCPs. The QA Supervisor also ensures that the meat products, processes and services meet the desired quality levels at all times. The position will also ensure the implementation and documentation involving FSSC 22000 (ISO 22000, HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Assurance on Meat Operations
Oversees, develops, implements and maintains all corporate food safety related strategies, policies and procedures; maintain open communication with all related departments to address the identification of food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities
Manages Food Safety Management System Plan including pre-requisite programs as well as the Quality Management System.
Performs HACCP monitoring to include but not limited to - concentration of chlorinated water solution monitoring, temperature monitoring, environmental monitoring and metal detection, and the sanitation program.
Works with Operations team to ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (5S/GMP, HACCP, and ISO).
Monitor and observe key associates' compliance on the food safety and quality assurance activities.
Conducts and tracks program training for all personnel and supervisors with direct Food Safety program responsibilities.
Use the document control system to collect, maintain and update corporate SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), policies and templates for all Food Safety related records
Conducts traceability during product recall process to ensure timely communication and execution of product recalls and completion of related documentation.
Ensures that Quality Assurance Systems in the Meat Laboratory are in place at all times.
Conducts and analyze microbiological test of raw materials and finished products through rapid test and conventional methods to determine products need to hold for release.
Supports meat product hold and release programs by ensuring product is not released without prior approval and documentation
Reports quality issues, ensures lab equipment calibration and maintenance, and trains QA team in QA procedures.
Assists in customer, regulatory and certification audits, customer complaint resolution and takes appropriate action promptly.
Establishes and monitors QA team schedules, performance and developmental goals, assign accountabilities and set objectives
FOOD SAFETY:
Ensures execution of quality, Halal (whenever necessary), health and food safety policy, standards and regulations within the team.
Responsible for reporting problems related to Halal, food safety & quality management system to identified authorities.
OTHER TASKS:
Actively participate in all company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management etc.
Performs other tasks related to the job as may be assigned by the immediate superior.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environment Science, Material Science or any course eligible for Chemical Technician exam
Experience:
With minimum 2 year experience as QA Supervisor in Food Manufacturing and is knowledgeable in Food Safety Management Systems
can demonstrate technical proficiency in the areas of food safety, food processing, sanitation and food regulations and policy
with knowledge on product traceability, food safety, food micro and food defense
having QA Supervisory experience in a FSSC-certified facility is a plus
Licenses:
Being a Licensed Chemical Technician, Licensed Microbiologist, or a Registered Chemist is a plus.
