advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAO's mandate;
(ii) provide technical assistance and deliver core services;
(iii) assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;
(iv) position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; and
(v) ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management.For more than four decades, FAO has been working with the Government of the Philippines, civil society, community-based organizations, the academe and the private sector to address challenges in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector. Joint efforts have included increasing sustainability in agricultural production, promoting value-adding practices, mechanization and modernization through improving post-harvest management, enhancing productivity and increasing the resilience of agriculture-based livelihoods to natural disasters, climatic hazards and armed conflict.The position is located in various locations.Reporting LinesThe Project Field Coordinator will report to the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme).Technical FocusBroad range of support function in the field during the project implementation. This includes aiding to achieve project outputs through coordination work, field visits, monitoring and documentation of activities, and other field related duties.Tasks and responsibilities
Assist and support the Project Team Leader in the timely implementation of the project: Development of Sustainable Fishery Value Chains in BARMM, at the provincial level.
Support the project and its stakeholders in providing strategic recommendations on how to enhance project implementation in the province of assignment
Extend technical support to relevant government partners (i.e. MAFAR Provincial counterparts, LGUs) and stakeholders (i.e. CBOs, Small/Medium Fishery/Aquaculture Business operators) in the implementation of the project at the provincial level.
Facilitate the strengthening of partnerships and inter-agency efforts at provincial level including fostering collaboration as well as coordinated implementation on the ground;
Ensure coordination with provincial and local government partners, and other relevant stakeholders for the conduct of project activities;
Prepare and submit reports for activities undertaken;
Work closely with the Project Team Leader and Specialists for the design of the project activities
Carry out other relevant duties within his/her technical competence as requested by the FAO Representative.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGMinimum Requirements
University degree in the field of Fisheries, Aquaculture, or Aquatic Resources, Community Development/Organizing, Development Studies or other related fields
At least five (5) years of relevant experience in fisheries/rural development sectors, programme management and implementation, capacity building, and coordination with national/regional government structures, NGOs and private sector and the UN agencies
Working knowledge (level C) of English
