BNA was selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the CAD$5.7 billion (approximate US$4.4 billion) Gordie Howe International Bridge project for Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA). When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario. The Project Risk Management and Insurance Coordinator has principal responsibility to oversee and manage actual or potential Project-related insurable claims, including various types of design and construction claims (project-specific all risks/environmental/professional liability/wrap-up liability), commercial auto liability/equipment damage claims, employer liability claims, and other types of claims for or against the design/builder within the framework of Project-related insurance policies. This includes but is not limited to: . Assuring timely issuance of insurance event and claim notices to relevant parties. . Receiving and managing third-party claims to the extent related to design-build activities (injury or property damage). . Administering insurance-related Project policies, procedures, and processes, and updating same from time-to-time managing compliance with insurance claim requirements. . Providing recommendations Resolving / settling claims where viable and obtaining approvals to do. . Sourcing, coordinating, and documenting in detail responsive information from within or external to the Project as needed to progress or defend or to otherwise achieve the resolution/disposition of insurable claims, including gathering and providing factual/historical event information and cost details. . Acting as the first and primary point of contact in managing and interfacing with external stakeholders (such as the governmental client and related government stakeholders, the public, adjusters/insurers/brokers, co-insured design and consulting professionals and subcontractors, and third-party claimants). . Responding to communications and information requests from insurers / adjusters and external legal counsel. . Acting as the first and primary point of contact in managing and interfacing with internal stakeholders (such as the Project senior leadership team, communications personnel, in-house risk managers, contract managers, and legal, project controls, design, and construction personnel). . Maintaining carriage of, tracking, and reporting regularly on the status of, all design-build-related insurable claims. . Managing subcontractor and other project insurance requirements and, Basic Job Requirements . Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and three (3) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to seven (7) years if non-degreed some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements . Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors . Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job . Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines . Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner Preferred Qualifications . Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in business or finance preferred, or equivalent business experience . Three (3) years of position specific related experience . Able to understand and analyze the activities being performed with respect to insurance theory and company policy . Basic interpersonal and communication skills . Basic leadership and decision-making skills .
