Job Summary
The Program Chair for Political Science oversees the implementation and delivery of the Political Science curriculum in compliance with CHED standards and University policies. The role involves academic leadership, faculty supervision, curriculum planning, instructional responsibilities, and coordination with College and University administrators.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership and Administration
Plan and manage faculty workloads, class schedules, and academic assignments.
Review and approve student academic concerns, including subject loads and enrollment adjustments.
Supervise and evaluate faculty performance, attendance, and work assignments.
Ensure accuracy and proper maintenance of academic records, reports, and accreditation-related documents.
Lead curriculum review, development, and enhancement initiatives in alignment with CHED and institutional standards.
Coordinate with the Dean on faculty recruitment, development, mentoring, and retention.
Foster communication with students and strengthen linkages with external stakeholders and partner institutions.
Promote academic governance, ethical standards, and University values.
Teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate Political Science courses in accordance with approved syllabi and learning outcomes.
Prepare course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
Conduct lectures, discussions, and other learning activities using effective and inclusive teaching strategies.
Evaluate student performance through examinations, projects, and other assessment methods, and submit grades on time.
Provide academic advising, consultation, and mentorship to students.
Maintain regular class attendance and comply with University teaching and reporting requirements.
Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development activities.
