Job Description
Purewater manufactures and distributes premium quality bottled drinking water. The company employs 90 staff and operates its business under HACCP-compliant food safety systems.
Purewater runs a fully automated 3,800 bph PET blow-moulding and filling line, and 350 bph 5-gallon filling line in Port Moresby, and a 150 bph (manual line) in Lae.
The company has plans to increase the capacity of its Port Moresby operation by installing a new 14,400 bph Techlong monobloc line.
. The upgrade will also entail the installation of new water storage and treatment equipment, highvolume air compressors, standby generators, etc.
The Production Manager is responsible for optimally maintaining and operating the company's existing production lines per the Managing Director's instructions.
The Production Manager will also be a member of the team responsible for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the new bottling line and equipment.
Ensure the company's production lines operate safely per the equipment manufacturer's specifications.
Manage the day-to-day operation of the company's existing bottling line, including: a) Preparation of staff rosters. b) Preparation of production schedules. c) Supervision of daily activities of production staff.
Manage maintenance activities, including: a) Scheduling and executing planned routine and preventative maintenance. b) Managing unplanned equipment breakdowns and shutdowns.
Managing relationships with the company's suppliers of maintenance services (electrical and electronics services providers, machine shop operators, compressor technicians, etc.).
Preparing and placing orders for parts and equipment with local and overseas suppliers. e) Establishing a computerised parts spare parts inventory system.
Advising management on the merits of procuring and implementing an automated, digitallybased maintenance management system.
Manage the training needs and vocational development of staff employed in the production area, including:
a) Identifying and documenting the training and personal development needs of individual staff members. b) Recommending training programs and courses to management.
Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance Manager to: a) Ensure all production activities occur within the framework of the company's HACCP food safety system.
b) Identify, document, and implement continuous-improvement programs in the production area and across the company's business generally.
Work with the Project Manager to implement plans to procure, install and commission the plant, equipment, and facilities described in the company's program to upgrade its production capacity.
Attend to any other duties assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Bachelor's / College Degree holder in Engineering(Electrical/Electronic); Engineering(Mechanical) or similar fields.
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University.
No less than ten years of experience in a senior supervisory or managerial role with an established beverage processing and packaging company.
Extensive hands-on experience operating monobloc blowing-filling-capping machinery
Extensive hands-on experience operating and managing high-capacity air compressors and water filtration equipment.
Understanding of electronic and PLC systems.
Previous experience working with formal HACCP / ISO-certified quality management systems.
Demonstrable ability to supervise and work with mixed gender workforce and willingness to mentor and train subordinate staff.
High-level skills with spreadsheet and project-management / CAD software.
Sound report writing skills. Current driver's license.
