The Product Manager is responsible for creating products by identifying potential opportunities, conducting market research, establishing product requirements, defining specifications, setting production schedules, determining pricing strategies, and formulating time-integrated plans for product launches, all while developing marketing strategies.
Responsibilities
Evaluating current and future product lines nature and scope involves a thorough review of product specifications and requirements. It also includes assessing new product concepts and potential product or packaging modifications.
Analyzing market competition entails comparing the company's products with those of its competitors.
Defining product marketing communication objectives is the key to providing source data for product line communications.
Collaborating with the sales team to devise product sales strategies is essential to obtaining a share of the product market.
Evaluating product market data is accomplished through interactions with customers alongside field sales representatives and assessing the outcomes of sales calls.
Preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, special reports, and analyses, and responding to inquiries and requests, contributes to management's decision-making process.
Maintaining optimal inventory turnover and product availability involves reviewing and adjusting inventory levels.
Bringing new products to market necessitates analyzing proposed product requirements, developing return-on-investment analyses, and establishing timetables in coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Introducing and promoting new products requires the development of comprehensive plans in collaboration with sales, advertising, and production departments.
Determining product pricing is based on market research data, cost analysis, volume projections, and pricing for special or customized orders, if applicable.
Ensuring operational requirements are met by scheduling and assigning tasks to employees and following up on their work results.
