Position Summary:
The Engineering Manager Product Engineering - Application Services Platform (Enterprise Payments) oversees the full life cycle of software services for enterprise payments - including solution architecture, design, development, integration, performance testing and maintenance. Additionally, the role will be focused on driving digital innovation for emerging technologies in these areas. The role will also be responsible for ensuring availability, performance and compliance of these capabilities and will be accountable for driving operational excellence in the overall maintenance of these capabilities. The Engineering Manager Product Engineering - Application Services Platform will report on project progress and operational metrics to executives and various stakeholders at the enterprise level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Hires, trains, mentors, and manages software engineering teams. Hires or contracts talent based on platform services demand.
Manages technical software development processes across more than one application development discipline for software technology product lines
Establishes and ensures best practices for the software development lifecycle including solution architecture, build, and test
Ensures that systems are stable and performing per SLAs, in collaboration with Infrastructure & Operations
Works with other digital and enterprise teams (direct and trade) to align these services capabilities with the business demand and pipeline of work
Collaborates closely with other IT teams and Digital teams to ensure on-time, on schedule delivery of products
Ensures that appropriate quality processes are in place to deliver high quality applications, in compliance with all regulatory requirements
Manages the sourcing of technical resources, leveraging off-site/offshore resources where appropriate
Fosters a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization
Collaborates with Marketing Ecommerce, Digital, Accounting, Treasury, IT Business Relationship management teams, IT Finance, Technology and Operations, Enterprise Architecture, and external software partners to deliver quality software products and services

Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related technology, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development management demonstrating progressive growth from positions in development or engineering
Experience identifying, acquiring, and leading senior technology professionals
Experience managing large labor and non-labor budgets
Experience managing the development and support of large complex software applications supporting a variety of business entities
Experience managing a staff of over 50 individuals in a support and development of a product-based organization
Must have strong experience in overall solution architectures
Strong experience and understanding of cloud based / microservices / serverless architecture.
Experience in the planning, analysis, and design of software application strategies
This position reports directly to a Senior Manager in Software Engineering
Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated experience in card processing and establishing connections to payment processors.
Some Knowledge and experience of EMV, P2PE, understanding of POS hardware connectivity to payment gateways.
Strong understanding of merchant needs in an omni-channel environment.
Metrics-focused manager with a passion for getting hands-on with technology and design
Proven ability to build productive relationships, motivate team members, and instill a positive can-do attitude
Extensive knowledge of the system development life cycle, the customer area's functions and systems, and application program development alternatives
Should have a deep understanding of many software development methodologies
Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, solid judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other IT professionals
Technical expertise in more than one modern and or legacy software platform and framework including internet technologies, microservices, Java frameworks, AWS cloud services, mobile/web technology architectures, software security, payments systems, content distribution networks and open systems
