Private Tutor Job Description:
• Work closely with students (grade 5, grade 4 & grade 1) to get them grounded in certain subjects they are struggling with
• Assist with assignments, projects and review for assessments for the students after their school hours
• Assist to prepare needed materials and paraphernalia on a daily basis for each student before classes start
• Evaluate the progress of the students.
• Identify the individual needs of the students. Different students may require different approach or learning methods.
• Make good recommendations with regards to extra activities like books and websites to help the students to be versatile in their learning and understanding of the subjects they are taking
• Provide regular feedback to parents on the state of each student
• Provide and maintain record of students and their assessments on a regular basis
• Help students develop intricate learning skills like writing and listening and easy ways to deal with difficult topics or formulas.
Job Requirements:
• Education: A degree in education or in any well-defined field of interest with good grades is the minimum requirement for this job
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years working experience as a tutor with practical experience in handling different types of students will be key.
• Experience working as a classroom teacher in any reputable school will be highly regarded
• Knowledge: the applicant should have sufficient knowledge of the subject being applied for specially for grades 5, 4 & 1 students.
• Should be able to answer any question from the students in regards to the subject been taught
• Computer skills: should be great and literate with computer & online applications to be able to navigate on all online lessons specially during today's distance learning era.
• Knowledge of MS Suite in general
• Skills: Excellent communication skills to be able to relate ideas to students without ambiguity
• Great analytical skills: This is highly needed to be able to identify areas where each student struggle so much
• Good writing skills: This is needed to help you write constructively for easy comprehension by the students
• Problem solving skills: Private tutors should be skilled enough to identify the individual difficulties of students and help them get around those problems in no time
• Teamwork: He/she should be able to work closely with parents and students to ensure the students strike a balance in their learning process
• Good research skills: This will be needed to help the tutor to consult more materials both in printed formats and soft copies from the internet
• Professionalism: This job demands a lot of professionalism on a regular basis. This is because, different students have different behaviors and this requires patience and resilience to deal with. Also, whatever friendship that exists between a tutor and a student should be only on the basis of the tutorial nothing more than that.
