Power BI Developer
The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing business intelligence solutions using the Power BI platform. This role plays a crucial part in transforming complex data into meaningful insights and visualizations to support data-driven decision-making across the company.
Job Description:
Power BI Development:
• Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations based on business requirements.
• Gather and analyze data requirements, translating them into efficient data models and structures.
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into Power BI using Power Query or other data integration tools.
• Implement data cleansing, aggregation, and transformation processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Optimize data models and queries for performance and efficiency.
Data Analysis and Visualization:
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support decision-making.
• Design visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards and reports using Power BI's visualization features.
• Create interactive filters, drill-down capabilities, and dynamic visualizations to facilitate data exploration.
• Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and track business performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
Data Governance and Security:
• Ensure data governance and data security best practices are followed in Power BI development.
• Implement row-level security and role-based access control (RBAC) to restrict data access based on user roles and permissions.
• Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and data quality rules within Power BI solutions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes, data connectivity, and performance issues.
• Stay updated with the latest Power BI features, functionalities, and industry trends to continuously enhance the Power BI solution.
Collaboration and Documentation:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and data engineers, to gather requirements and implement solutions.
• Document data models, data flows, and Power BI development processes to ensure knowledge transfer and maintainable solutions.
• Conduct training sessions and provide technical support to end-users for Power BI usage and functionality.
• Participate in data governance initiatives and contribute to data-related projects and discussions.
Additional non-core tasks:
• Other tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or any related.
• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power Query.
• Proficiency in data modelling and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
• Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
• Experience with SQL and data manipulation languages.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Knowledge of database systems and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a plus.
• Understanding of data governance and data security principles.
• Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A commitment to customer satisfaction, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
