Being in the starting phases of reforestation close to surrounding communities, the Political & Community Relations Officer will primarily focus on community preparation activities and creating strategic linkages for conservation action at government-level. Activities involve the following:
1. Spearhead preparation and education/awareness activities surrounding values formation, conservation and heritage for residents, government-institutions, and youth of target communities
2. Manage linkages and relationships at the local level for communities and government units (Barangay, Law Enforcement Institutions, and Local Government Unit)
3. Lead campaigning initiatives at the local and community level in support of conservation and the strategic goals of the organization
4. Create, coordinate and manage volunteer and external activities/initiatives to push for the protection of Masungi Georeserve's reforestation sites
5. Where possible, spearhead the conceptualisation, coordination and implementation of livelihood and enterprise developmnent initiatives (may span agricultural produce, home-based items and crafts, employment) for the nearby communities/barangay
Must have a passion for or keen interest in the environment, and/or sustainable development;
Experience in political relations and campaigning;
Experience in community relations/community development at the Barangay and Sitio-level (preferred)
Preferably with at least 6 months of fieldwork experience;
Excellent communication and presentation skills;
Excellent problem-solving and crisis management skills;
Good events management and project planning skills
Strong analytical and planning skills;
Must know how to use public transportation;
Must have ability to work under pressure;

The Masungi Georeserve is an environment protection project, with a goal to promote sustainability, conservation, and education. Our BHAG is to form part of a UNESCO Geopark. Currently, the area has an effective conservation plan supported by a geotourism plan. The project site is in Baras, Rizal, but the project assistant will report for work in the Quezon City office.
