Job Description
A plant engineer is responsible for the entire operations of a manufacturing plant. This includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times. Other duties include ensuring company policies and procedures are followed as well as assisting in the onboarding process of new hires and providing training and educational materials to staff members.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Plant Engineer to monitor our current operations and determine more efficient production processes. The Plant Engineer's responsibilities include analyzing operations, designing workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring that final products meet the established quality standards.
To be successful as a Plant Engineer you should be able to design systems that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness and production issues, are cost-efficient, and ensure high product quality.
Responsibilities
Increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations
Developing design and production standards in cooperation with management and user personnel.
Designing the layout of facilities and determining personnel requirements.
Designing production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
Designing control systems to minimize costs and production issues.
Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
Preparing material and equipment lists, purchase orders, cost analyses, and estimated production costs.
Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
Commit to plant safety procedures
Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
Address employees' issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
Influence and learn from below
Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts
Analyze the data and optimize flow based on the insights
Ensure efficiencies and optimization of company assets, utilities, inventories (trade / non-trade) manpower, and logistics.
Training staff for new processes and providing instructions and manuals.
Managing process documentation and preparing production reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven work experience as a Plant Engineer
Proven managerial experience
Degree in industrial engineering or related field required.
Relevant work experience.
Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Documentation and organization skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
Computer literacy
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
