The opportunity
The successful candidate will work closely with other leaders in infrastructure engineering, product development, operations, and Application support to enable monitoring that will ensure service reliability. He/she must understand how different methods of service and system monitoring can be configured to provide a holistic view of IT services, how Manulife infrastructure and application systems integrate and be able to pinpoint where monitoring systems require improvement.
As part of a 24/7/365 operation, this is an Office based shift role.
Shift patterns may change as management and business needs change.
Responsibilities
Instrument monitoring solutions on various infrastructure platforms.
Scripting custom monitoring solutions & AI instrumentation.
Capable of troubleshooting & identifying issues and provide solutions.
Accountable for the deliveries of the Global Tools team from both strategy and day to day operations perspective.
Actively promote a culture of continuous improvement and ensure that a steady stream of incremental improvements is delivered.
Effective communication and collaboration with the Infrastructure and Application teams.

What we are looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or any Computer related courses
At least 5 years solid coding experience in using scripting languages such as Java, JSON, Ruby, Python, Powershell, Javascript, Regex
Advanced knowledge of Docker, Cloud Foundry and Azure Kubernetes as well as other components supporting a highly automated, resilient engineering platform..
Solid experience in building the Four Golden Signal of SRE, performance and reliability story using the full stack functionality of New Relic, Statseeker or Azure Monitor, Grafana, xMatters, MoogSoft, Dynatrace, DEVO
Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, minions, Docker, Containers, AKS, microservices and Microsoft Azure.
Familiarity with REST API development principles and practical application and knowledge of modern software architectures
Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
Experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering, automation and predictive analytics.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace
Effective decision making / problem solving skills (debugging, testing)
Experience on site reliability engineers (SREs) concepts and a proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
Ability to build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders. Be part of initiatives to develop and improv e standards, practices and methodologies.
