REPORTING TO: Technical Delivery Manager
Position Overview:
The Mid-Level Android Engineer at Inspire Team reports to the Technical Delivery Manager, and plays a key role in leading the software engineering and development efforts, as well as technical direction of exciting enterprise solutions in the Commercial AV industry. As a Mid-Level Android developer, you serve as one of the pillars of the development team. You will provide guidance to junior members while being yourself guided and mentored by the Senior members of the team. You are responsible for contributing to the application code base that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You will be responsible for implementing both user interface and backend systems while also being able to integrate the application with 3rd party systems. You should have strong engineering skills and are capable of influencing a wider team by acting as a "force multiplier". Job duties may change at any time due to business needs and the desired candidate must be willing to adapt.
Principal Responsibilities:
Contribute to a team of developers creating and supporting applications for Android, IOS, and Windows
Work collaboratively in a group of passionate developers in a high energy, fast paced and outcome-oriented environment
Lead by example and foster growth in junior team members
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones (Australia, Philippines, and Ukraine) to define, design, and ship new features
Build advanced applications for the Android platform
Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
Work with and integrate external data sources and APIs
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Desired:
Hands on experience working with Android SDK, Android Studio, APIs, Database/SQL
2-4 years of experience in Software development
1-2 years of experience in Android development
Fluency with Java and Kotlin development
Knowledge of cutting-edge Android technologies as well as other mobile technologies and trends
Experience in consuming web services using JSON/ XML
Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
Excellent debugging and optimization skills
Experience in leading a small group of team members
Strong opinion about design and a desire for building beautiful user experiences
A constant drive to make things simpler and faster
Comfortable and able to thrive in a small, intense, high-growth startup environment
Strong communication skills in English both written and oral
Proficient in the day-to-day practicalities of Agile software development
Ability to effectively share technical information, communicate technical issues and solutions to all levels of business
Experience working in a DevOps-oriented culture that prioritizes continuous integration and continuous deployment.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Bonus Points:
Experience building Kiosk applications using Android Kiosk or similar technologies.
Have implemented an end-to-end application and have gone through the marketplace release process.
Experience working in the Commercial AV industry.
