Work Base: Office
Purpose of Job:
Specializes in using computer-aided design to create models and
technical details of the product and structures. These project plans use specialized notations and symbols to convey instructions about materials, assembly procedures and tools. They may work with engineers, architects and other professionals in producing plans and drawings.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Design or redesign and prepare mechanical (HVAC) layouts, fire protection layouts, and plumbing layouts from general written or verbal specifications given by the supervisor.
Produce CAD drawings for new projects using industrial, mechanical and discipline standards.
Assist and collaborate with contractors, designers and engineers through phone calls regarding existing design matters.
Review and analyze drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements with basic design concepts.
Preparing general notes, schematic diagrams, equipment schedules, floor plans and miscellaneous details.
Keeping records of on-going, pending and finished project designs for future purposes.
Attend regular development meetings and perform site visits.
Collaborate with supervisor to determine workload availability and deadlines.
Communicate closely with the members of the team to obtain reference information for drawings.
Provide alternative design concepts to meet standard and clients' requirements.
Assist mechanical team in CAD drawing, calculations, estimates and designing tasks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design, Engineering, Architecture or similar field with a certification from a technical school/program
Extensive knowledge on AutoCAD processes and other applicable software
Familiarity with mechanical codes and regulations
Computer literate and is experienced with using MS Office software
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Firm grasp of mathematics, engineering and industry information
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
