Responsibilities:
Coding and Classification:
Assign accurate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services for proper reimbursement and compliance with coding guidelines.
Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure coding reflects the patient's care accurately.
Data Management:
Utilize data management skills to maintain and organize patient records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain missing information and clarify documentation discrepancies.
Clinical Experience:
Apply clinical knowledge and understanding to interpret medical terminology and procedures for effective code assignment.
Work closely with healthcare professionals to comprehend complex medical scenarios and ensure accurate coding.
Spreadsheet Proficiency:
Utilize spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) to organize and manage coded data efficiently.
Create reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
GoogleStudio and SQL (Preferred):
Familiarity with GoogleStudio and SQL is a plus; ability to use these tools for data analysis and reporting would be advantageous.
Provide support in leveraging GoogleStudio and SQL for enhanced coding workflows and data insights.
Compliance:
Stay current with coding guidelines, regulations, and updates to ensure adherence to industry standards.
Conduct regular audits to validate the accuracy and compliance of coded data.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to resolve coding discrepancies and improve documentation practices.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to enhance overall coding processes.
Training and Development:
Assist in training new staff and provide ongoing education to healthcare providers on coding-related matters.
Stay informed about advancements in coding practices and contribute to the professional development of the coding team.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create and manage spreadsheets.
Clinical experience and understanding of medical terminology.
Familiarity with GoogleStudio and SQL is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
