Client: US healthcare company looking for candidates with experience in medical billing
Objective: To collect and coordinate payment arrangements of patient's from insurance companies in behalf of the provider.
Position: US Medical Biller
Location: Remote (Work from home)
Type of Work: Full time, permanent
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (UTC -5)
The role and responsibilities:
Summary: The medical biller is responsible for invoicing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies and payers.
Prepare bills and invoices for medical services and treatments received.
Establish payment arrangements on current and delinquent patient accounts.
Check eligibility and benefits verification for patient's treatment, hospitalization, and procedures.
Contacts and follows up with individuals to reconcile accounts.
Collaborate with designated collection agencies to collect seriously delinquent accounts.
Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and review claims using a billing software.
Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
Call insurance companies regarding discrepancy in payments if necessary.
Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
Research and appeal denied claims.
Requirements:
Two to three years experience as a medical biller in a medical office setting.
Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
Competent use of computer systems and billing software
Effective communication skills for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments.
Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities.
Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.
A calm manner and patience working with either patients or insurers during this process.
Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
