The Mechanic Electrician provides support to the Maintenance and Safety Officer in overseeing the mechanical and electrical facilities of the entire plant including the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. He also ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
Inspects on a routine basis electrical system, equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure they remain functional and to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensures compliance with codes.
Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components, and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.
Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.
Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks.
Keep records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used.
Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Trouble shooting and repair of production equipment and machines.
Directs and trains workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Make decisions based on technical documents.
Test systems with devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to ensure the system remains safe and that components are compatible.
