Advanced Materials & Processes - Materials Lab Manager (IEIC-P)
The Advanced Materials and Processes Group have an exciting role for a Materials Lab Manager to join our team to help develop best in class materials research, innovative technologies and advance our next gen product solutions across multiple product portfolios in our Interiors strategic business unit.
In this role, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for the management of people, capabilities & projects undertaken by the Philippines based team within the Advanced Materials group. The main team activities will include performing and delivering materials characterization, testing & analysis projects, managing the materials lab resources & capabilities, establishing and maintaining materials library/databases and data management systems, and supporting other technical projects associated with assisting advanced materials and composites research, technology and product development, and advanced methods and simulation to execute our materials and process technology strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall lab management & delivery of projects undertaken by the Materials team:
Define and communicate project goals, scope, expectations and direction to team members
Develop schedules & deliverables, track & execute project plans from initiation through to delivery
Establishing Key Performance Indicators and governance systems ensuring that all equipment meets standards, team members trained, and projects meet and exceed expectations
Provide continual development of the individual and team performance through coaching, clarifying performance expectations and setting & supporting the delivery of challenging objectives and goals
Proactively interface with all key stakeholders, internal customers & external personnel to support the needs of the team & the business
Work closely with the AMP leader, peers, and key stakeholders to determine team direction, priorities and allocation of resource, lab capability needs and any improvement projects
Identify lab capability needs, create and deliver improvement projects, and develop training plans to ensure the equipment and team can support the needs of the business
Any other duties as required to support business needs
Key Skills/Experience
Experience leading teams, developing people and technical capabilities
Expert knowledge and experience in materials characterisation, apparatus, analysis & test methods with a focus on plastics, composites & metals
Experience with managing lab test equipment and processes, and leading and supporting research, development and engineering projects for multi-functional and IPT teams
Experience of materials standards, qualification requirements, and creating test plans and reports
Knowledge of material databases and data control to support research and technology, TRL/MRL progression, and engineering product development projects
Knowledge of material data requirements to support and advance analysis & simulation tools
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related area and minimum 5 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years' working experience in testing, characterization and analysis on advanced materials including composites and plastics
A minimum of 3 years' working experience in a lab management role, including both people management (coaching, and mentoring teams) and delivering technology development projects
A minimum of 3 years' working experience in a materials research and/or materials technology development role
