Description
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
Supervisors are responsible for the overall performance of a section/unit. They are given authority to recommend, hire, transfer, promote, assess performance, coach, develop and impose discipline. Resolves day-to-day problems in a timely manner. However, key decisions are made in conjunction with the inputs or in consultation with the department head. Accountable for the unit's output in terms of compliance with work standards, policies and procedures.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Provides overall guidance and warehouse expertise to the team, individually or through subordinate lead persons.
- Accountable for performance management, talent development, succession planning and engagement of team.
THIRD PARTY LOGISTICS
- Ensure local 3rd party logistics are being managed in line with the company's standards
- Engage with logistics partners on performance review, continuous improvement plans and short/long term strategies
- Lead monthly operational performance reviews between Company and logistics partners, ensuring minutes and actions are followed up and closed where appropriate.
- Establishes strong working relationships with carrier owners/operators
- Contacts approved carriers in order to confirm availability and capacity for individual shipments
- Provides all necessary shipment information to freight carrier and receive and record confirmation that carrier has accepted each shipment
- Provides updates on shipment planning status to supply chain as required/requested.
- Delivery of materials/goods and/or supplies within a location
- Implement processes and procedures
- Ensure that goods are delivered and/or picked up on time, in full and in good condition.
- Coordinate manpower requirement for handling and warehousing needs.
- Ensure and implement embedded control in all logistics processes especially in warehouse and inventory management to prevent losses and processes to ensure smooth operation.
MONITORING
- Follow up with the execution of the shipments. Monitors the status of the loading and shipment and performs track and trace activities to confirm status of shipment throughout the shipment execution process.
- Provides timely communication with carrier owners and operations, operations and maintains daily contact with Operations and Supply Chain teams and carriers on order/shipment information.
- Addresses service incidents and prioritizes activities and takes fast decisions to cope with a lot of variations due to - change in pick up location, bad quality of a product, truck rejections by the customer, re-routing of a traveling truck. Operates within the transport strategy and resolves day to day issues in resourceful and effective ways and provides recommendations to support improved or cost-beneficial transport movements.
- Provides necessary information in regards to the transportation of shipments.
- Provides information about shipment execution with the Accounts Payable team in order to help them resolve issues regarding payments, invoices and changes.
• May perform related duties as assigned, within scope of practice.
