Linux System Engineer in Makati
 
 
MUST HAVE 5 years of experience in Linux system administration.
 
The successful applicant will be part of the client-facing operations team responsible for managing the server farm, troubleshooting issues and delivering an exceptional service for customers. 
 
The client builds and host web-based software on behalf of their customers. This role is in the front-line support team which sets up, maintains and upgrades software on these servers, and delivers an exceptional service for customers. You will troubleshoot and fix issues, as well as provide training and business support to customers as required.  
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities  
-Build trusted relationships with the customers, striving to offer an exceptional level of service, 
-Monitor and maintain full availability of UAT and production environments. 
-Identify and coordinate the correction of code defects and enhancements. 
-Testing and deploying software upgrades for customers. 
-Work with others to identify how our infrastructure and service can be further improved, and 
-Contribute to the strategic direction of both the products and the company. 
 
 
 
Technical skills: 
-Linux (Installation and maintenance) 
-Databases (e.g. MySQL, Elasticsearch), 
-Network administration & security (Firewalls, stunnels, VPNs) 
-Agile (Using tools like Git, Bitbucket, JIRA) 
-Server and application Monitoring (e.g. Nagios) 
-Service desk Tools (e.g. Zendesk) 
 
 
 
Qualifications and Experience:  
-Must have 5 years of experience in Linux system administration 
-Experience with FIX protocol or the Trading Industry is a plus but not an absolute requirement. 
-Strong English communication skills; written and spoken is REQUIRED 
-Must be organized and always want to provide the best possible level of customer service. 
-Must have good technical skills (Linux, database) and are interested in continuously improving your knowledge. 
-Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills. 
-Excellent attention to detail and time/priority management 
-Desire to work in a team; enthusiastic and passionate about your profession and want to make a valuable contribution  
 
 
 
Education:  
-Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering 
-Knowledge of FIX (Financial Information Exchange) a plus
