JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Actuarial Project Leader, you will lead a range of client projects for different offices. You will effectively manage clients, projects, and team members to meet or exceed client expectations. You will work with client teams across different offices.
 
You will oversee a diverse team of actuarial analysts and senior actuarial analysts, providing technical reviews of work products along with training and performance guidance as needed and act as a coach, mentor and role model for junior associates.
 
Performance Objectives:
 
Clients
• Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned project/country
• Develop and manage project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
• Serve as the day-to-day project lead, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards
• Serve as primary contact to client teams on delivery of services from the AV team
• Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client teams through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
• Manage client team expectations and raise appropriate issues to Lead Retirement Consultant or Office LOB Leader
• Provides value beyond the immediate deliverables and ensures that the consulting team feels “looked after”; regularly solicits feedback from consulting team, manages expectations and effectively addresses consulting team satisfaction issues. Removes any barriers from collaboration with consulting team.
• Serves as the primary interface between AV team and consulting team. Ensures associates are interacting effectively with consulting office teams. Ensures associates are integrated into the consulting team.

• Identify opportunities to enhance quality and/or improve processes to reduce costs

• Meet billable hour targets
• Monitors under- and overutilized associates and addresses concerns.
• Manage projects and leverage resources to produce quality deliverables on time and within budget
• Manages the financials of projects/countries independently.
 
People
• Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively with client teams in different offices and demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with colleagues at all levels
• Serve as mentor to other associates. Provides feedback to junior team members, which may include people management responsibilities.
• Delegates & leverages work effectively for efficiency and development of associates.
• Takes responsibility for retaining key talent and minimizing regrettable turnover.
• Ensures succession planning on key roles and projects.
• Identifies and is engaged in potential non-billable activities (e.g., recruiting) to help ensure the success of the center. May lead an internal committee to improve process or training.
• Identifies and acts on the development needs of project team members.
JOB QUALIFICATION
Undergraduate degree in math-related major
• 10 years + of performing core retirement work and an in-depth understanding of the funding of and accounting for retirement and other postretirement benefit plans
• Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
• Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with client teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other team members, and to provide guidance and leadership working with diverse team members.
• Possessor expect to be able to quickly develop advanced knowledge of internal Towers Watson tools
• Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity
• Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
• Strong analytical skills
• Enjoys training/mentoring junior staff
• Actuarial exams/designation, a plus
