LAYOUT DESIGNER
Qualifications and experience required for this role:
Essential
Degree in IT or Fine Arts or related fields
At least 1-2 years experience in book layout and post correction design
Knowledgeable with Adobe Indesign, Photoshop and other related tools
Highly developed English verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
Desirable
Experience in Publishing
Organized and flexible.
Ability to work with minimum supervision
A team player
Fast and able to meet projects on time
Special Requirements
Can work flexible working hours when required on occasion to meet work load and deadline needs.
Key Accountabilities of the role
The Layout designer collects and assembles type styles and images, such as illustrations, photographs and drawings, to create a visual design in a book. Do necessary corrections as per author’s instruction or request.
Tasks
Decides on what to design for book interior which includes selection of font style and font size.
Ensures that the design coincides with the book’s theme.
Coordinates with the Production Supervisor if there are projects that need to be clarified in order to deliver what author expects.
Double checks with the files if complete (MS, images, graphs, charts and etc.).
Does quality checking to ensure the quality of work before endorsing to Production Supervisor
Hit quality metrics set by Publishing Production Leader(s)
Generate and assigns book’s ISBN.
Checks the image/s provided by author if it passes the standard size of 300dpi and up.
