Job Description
This position is within a team of design engineers and supports development engineering with testing switched mode power supplies, heating cable electronics, UPS systems, electronic and magnetic components for new product introduction, sustenance and certification compliance. Key activities include; product and/or material test samples preparation, conducting quality and reliability tests, preparation of related test reports and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain engineering lab and keep lab equipment on calibration schedule.
- Build prototype samples, test setups, apply thermocouples.
- Conduct power supply, UPS, Heating cable electronic products performance tests, as specified by design team on engineering prototypes and on production units.
- Generate test reports necessary to maintain agency certifications based on tests.
- Root cause failure analysis (as required) for field returns.
- Suggest Improvements for processes and designs as opportunities present.
Education/Minimum Experience
- Accredited BSME or BSEE Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- 5 years of Engineering work experience as laboratory technician or Engineering associate in electronic industry.
- 3 years of experience with testing industrial switch mode power supplies (50 -1000W range), UPS systems. Requirements
- Knowledge of power electronic topologies such as boost, buck, full- bridge converter etc., analog and digital circuits.
- Excellent practical/hand on skills; soldering circuit boards, applying thermocouples, wiring etc.
- Proficient in use of electronic equipment; power sources, power analyzers, hi-pot tester, oscilloscope, electronic loads etc.
- Curiosity, self-learning, and technical analysis abilities. Ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to systematically analyze technical data, solve problems, and coordinate projects.
- Skilled in use of Electronic CAD, MS Office, and related applications. Technical test report writing.
- Self-starter, ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Foster Teamwork: Collaborate with team members to set goals, resolve problem.
- Excellent communication skills.
