We are currently looking for a Junior Accountant to work with a close-knit accounting, tax, and advisory firm based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs with a team of experts in bookkeeping and accounting, focused on delivering quality business advice in a professional, friendly and approachable manner. The client highly values teamwork and collaboration and are leaders in cloud accounting technology advice.
Job Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping for clients:
· Reconcile bank accounts in Xero
· Processing invoices/bills in receipt bank & Xero
· Preparing payroll in Xero
· Preparing superannuation contributions (via xero)
Accounting duties:
· Preparation of Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
· Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS)
· Preparation of Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR)
· Preparation of Monthly & Annual Payroll Tax (Victoria)
· Preparation of PAYG Payment Summaries/STP Finalization
Assist with ad hoc duties such as:
· Prepare closing end of year journals to post into client accounting software
· Assistance with setting up new xero files (Import COA, enter opening balances, setup payroll details)
· Assistance with grant applications (eg Jobkeeper, Vic Business Support grant, etc)
Job Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years Australian accounting and taxation experience
Xero / MYOB Certified
Experience in the preparation and review of BAS, IAS, TPAR and superannuation using Xero
Experience in the preparation and review of Monthly & Annual Payroll tax
Experience in the preparation and review of PAYG Payment summaries/STP Finalization
Experience working with Australian SMEs
Competent with computer operations as well as some specific applications, such as Xero, MYOB, Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook.
Experience with relevant computer systems
The person must be keen to learn and develop their computer competencies
Particularly good in verbal and written English communication skills
Clear communicator
Keen to details and highly motivated
Can deliver accurate task with minimal supervision
Flexible / multi-tasker
