ROLE SUMMARY:
The company is looking for an experienced IT Content Writer to produce high-quality, effectively written reports, proposals, and other forms of business writing and communications that contribute to the overall success of initiatives.
The outputs of this role will help elevate stakeholder satisfaction with services by creating purposeful content that distills inward-looking subject matter with ease and clarity. The IT Content Writer is expected to transpose complex concepts, ideas, and directives into reader-friendly narratives expertly written to help target readers understand and appreciate processes and services. S/he also takes charge of initiatives that enhance the flow of information within the division, cultivate social well-being, and foster a sense of belonging in a remote work setting.
At the onset of this engagement, s/he will work collaboratively with our managers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders on the upkeep and continual improvement of the division’s remote working newsletter, intranet site, and social well-being, and community engagement programs/campaigns. S/he will also be immediately involved in communications and documentation support for the division’s flagship initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in communication, creative writing, editing, and graphic design. Experience in writing about a technical subject area—preferably IT, software, engineering, or related subjects–is a plus. The candidate’s ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is second to none, and s/he should possess an exceptional skill to communicate complex ideas to target audiences.
The said candidate is thorough, able to integrate research into outputs, and shall have the perception to synthesize findings into substantive and formative recommendations.
The desired outputs are vibrant, engaging, reader-friendly content that effectively communicates the agreed messages.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute communication strategies to improve visibility, understanding, and appreciation of ITFS’ services, initiatives, and accomplishments. Maintain and publish a periodic report of ITFS division achievements.
Coordinate the content calendar and upkeep of ITFS’ remote working newsletter and division intranet site. Pitch and write about news-worthy stories, human interest, and well-being features relevant to target audiences. Serve as point of contact for content contributors/owners and answer questions regarding content classification and approval.
Design, plan, organize and execute social well-being initiatives and events that encourage genuine/meaningful connections and collaboration. Contribute to the development and rollout of an internal recognition program for ITFS.
Provide communications and documentation support in collaboration with ITFS initiative owners and subject matter experts.
Write, review, and edit content, create graphics and/or illustrations for articles reports, proposals, presentations, policy and process documentation, guidelines, terms of reference, visual aids, and other forms of business writing and communications required for the effective and efficient administration and operation of ITFS.
Research and build knowledge about products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented.
Track engagement and gather feedback on the effectiveness of ITFS communications, events, meetings, and other services. Seek continual improvements.
Support ITFS crisis coordination and communication efforts.
Assist in director communications, as needed.
Perform other ad-hoc tasks when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, IT, or relevant fields
5+ years’ industry experience as an effective communications specialist, technical writer, or equivalent role/assignment
Demonstrated experience in corporate communications and copywriting/writing for multiple audiences
Demonstrated experience in presentation design and crafting impactful slide decks
Demonstrated experience gathering technical requirements from subject matter experts and converting that into appropriate content
Working knowledge of SharePoint, MS Teams, and other Microsoft Office 365 applications; expertise in graphic design software is an asset.
Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize accordingly
Professional authoring, writing, editing, proofreading skills
Graphic design and diagramming skills
Excellent/proficient command of the English language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in web design and content production
Experience in project management
Knowledge of design and publishing concepts
Have a firm understanding of business analysis, technology project management, or demand management
Experience working with engineering and/or technology experts to improve the user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
Experience working remotely, using virtual collaboration tools
