Job Description
Manulife Financial Corporation seeks to hire an Investment Paralegal to provide legal support for its global General Account and Private Markets Investment Law group. This legal team works directly with internal clients, outside counsel and deal counterparties to facilitate investments in privately-traded assets of various types both for Manulife's own accounts and on behalf of third-party investors. We are looking for a dynamic professional to support legal work relating to debt and equity investment transactions, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, third party products and company projects on a global basis. The ideal candidate will understand basic concepts of investment transactions, corporate finance, and/or real estate finance.
Initial Job Responsibilities:
Complete private equity fund subscription documents and supporting materials including investor questionnaires and KYC ( know-your-client) documentation.
Review commercial leases and complete lease abstracts and related basic legal documentation.
Support corporate finance and/or real estate transactions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Paralegal certificate and/or bachelor's degree (or equivalent) plus experience with law firm or corporate law department; two to five years' experience in a top-tier law firm or large corporate legal department preferred.
Self-starter, detail oriented, and highly organized, with excellent analytical skills.
Ability to work independently on multiple, simultaneous assignments with minimal supervision following an initial training period.
Ability to work collaboratively with paralegals, lawyers, administrative assistants and clients on transactions, department projects and initiatives.
General working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and redlining software.
