CGI Federal's Housing Sector team that partners with public housing authorities (PHAs) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist in the provision of affordable housing has an opening for a HQS Inspector located in Columbus, Ohio. This is an opportunity to join an energetic team with a collaborative management group and work with affordable housing providers. New team members receive in-depth training to prepare them for their role. The HQS Inspector will inspect housing units using a mobile device to ensure that units are in compliance with U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Quality Standard (HQS) inspection rules and regulations and the Housing Authority's Administrative Plan. Your future duties and responsibilities: Responsible for inspection of Housing Choice Voucher subsidized units and representing CGI and PHA clients as an ambassador in the community. Must ensure dwelling units meet Housing Quality Standards (HQS) as well as State, County and local codes. Must have the ability to use a mobile device to record specific information pertaining to each dwelling unit inspected. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: . Monitor, evaluate and document housing conditions of rental assistance clients. . Ability to conduct a high volume of thorough inspections efficiently and effectively while applying detailed and comprehensive Housing Quality Standards accurately document conditions that do not meet standards with clear and concise reports. . Ensure that all assigned inspection types are inspected timely and cited HQS violations are brought into compliance within given timeframes. . Follow-up on all inspections to determine if required work has been completed properly within specified time constraints. . Educate program participants, appropriate agencies, and the general public concerning HQS and PHA specific regulations, policies, and procedures. . Research and respond to inquiries regarding HQS and other inspection related matters. . Participate effectively within and across teams to solve problems and to deliver quality service to landlords and program participants. . Work closely with team members to provide a high level of customer service. . Perform related duties as assigned by the Inspections Supervisor and provide staff coverage as needed. . Escalate issues to Supervisor that need immediate attention. . Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: . High School diploma required . At least one to two years of experience in in building maintenance, construction, property management, housing programs, and/or real estate appraisals or an equivalent combination of experience and education. . Must obtain HQS certification within three months of employment. . Possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record and meet all state insurance requirements. . Have access to a reliable vehicle to conduct daily fieldwork. Ability to: coordinate work activities make independent decisions express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff, clients, landlords and tenants deal effectively with situations requiring tact and diplomacy prepare clear and concise reports.
