Job description
The Project Director will lead the planning, design, and execution of a world-class shipyard and ship repair facility, ensuring that all phases of the project are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. This leadership role involves strategic oversight, stakeholder collaboration, resource management, and risk mitigation to deliver an operationally efficient and sustainable facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the overall project strategy, including timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
Align project objectives with organizational goals and stakeholder requirements.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
2. Project Planning and Execution
Oversee all phases of the project, from conceptualization to commissioning and operational handover.
Coordinate with designers, contractors, and other specialists to finalize project designs and execution plans.
Monitor progress and resolve any issues that may arise during construction.
3. Financial Oversight
Establish project budgets and monitor financial performance.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.
Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders.
4. Stakeholder and Communication Management
Act as the primary liaison between the company, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Maintain clear communication channels to manage expectations and provide regular project updates.
5. Risk Management
Identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure contingency plans are in place for unforeseen challenges.
6. Construction and Quality Assurance
Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify progress and adherence to specifications.
Address any deviations or non-conformities promptly.
7. Team and Resource Management
Recruit, train, and lead a multidisciplinary project team.
Allocate resources efficiently to meet project demands.
Foster a collaborative and performance-oriented team culture.
8. Sustainability and Environmental Compliance
Integrate sustainable construction practices and materials into the project.
Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and standards.
9. Operational Transition
Oversee the commissioning process to ensure the facility is ready for operational use.
Ensure that all systems, equipment, and staff are prepared for the transition to operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience (15+ years) in managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in the marine or industrial sector.
Strong knowledge of shipyard construction, repair facilities, and associated regulations.
Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated expertise in project planning, risk management, and financial oversight.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
