Job Description
Overview:
Our client is a leader in designing, manufacturing and supplying commercial foodservice equipment. They are
looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Director of Engineering to lead and oversee the activities of
the Engineering department. The incumbent should be able to offer expert guidance as and when required and be
responsible for developing and establishing departmental goals and strategies.
As a Director of Engineering, s/he should have excellent negotiation and presentation skills, and be up-to-date with
the latest advancements in the Engineering industry. S/he should also be able to oversee the installation and testing
of various engineering products and ensure the completion of all projects within the assigned timeline and budget.
To be successful in this job role, s/he should display strong leadership skills, able to build and maintain long-term
business relations.
Responsibilities
Determining the project requirements, including researching the target audience, usage of the product, and
functionality;
Determining manufacturing requirements and processes;
Determining production costs and strategizing the most cost-effective means of production;
Evaluating the final product in terms of appearance, performance, functionality, durability, and safety;
Evaluating and confirming product designs and structures;
Overseeing the installation and testing of various engineering products ;
Ensuring that the project timelines are met;
Coordinating with the Project Engineer in reviewing various project progress reports;
Developing and implementing the industry's best engineering practices and processes;
Overseeing Engineering Technicians and providing guidance as and when required;
Developing departmental goals and strategies;
Preparing and presenting annual budget and plans;
Recruiting and training new staff;
Building and maintaining long-term business relations with internal and external stakeholders;
Examining and keeping up-to-date with new technological developments;
Discussing and negotiating contract terms and conditions with vendors and clients.
Requirements
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
5-8 years of work experience as a Director of Engineering, Process Engineer, Project Engineer, or a similar
role in the Engineering department;
Complete knowledge of engineering best practices and processes;
Other certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or engineering certification are a plus;
Solid experience with engineering software, such as CAD and others;
Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
Good communication, presentation, and negotiation skills;
Strong leadership qualities;
Good time management and project management skills;
Highly motivated and detail-oriented individual;
Ability to offer excellent customer service.
