Who are Bad Robot Games?
Founded in 2018, Bad Robot Games is an evolving development & publishing house made up of game industry veterans who are committed to constantly innovating on how stories are played.
Working closely with our colleagues at Bad Robot Productions, our projects unite our games industry veterans, our film and TV colleagues, and our larger network of talent (writers, composers, sound designers, concept artists, and more), to allow us to blend areas of expertise, and diverse perspectives to create expansive worlds and stories.
We are looking for a Head of Business Development to join the team and build something totally unique with us.
SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced business development manager who is deeply passionate about games, the business, and the developers who make them. In this role, you'll be expected to both play an integral part of developing our portfolio and IP strategy at its earliest stages, but you'll also be opening doors with potential partners, will be leading exploratory discussions and evaluating and negotiating business opportunities.
We expect the ideal candidate for this role to be interested in and experienced at developing relationships that span the spectrum: From a deep knowledge of game makers and up and coming indie titles, to how to negotiate business deal terms with publishers.
In addition to developing long-lasting relationships with game creators, you'll help us build out a next generation strategy for funding games, in a way that's developer ecosystem friendly. We're rethinking everything about the business of making games and we need you to help us drive it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Align with leadership to understand long-term goals, and have insights into strategic thinking around opportunities that may exist between games, development, and our IP
Define, negotiate, and close deals for game development, distribution, publishing, and IP licensing
Manage strategic partnerships with game developers and our internal IP holders
Develop new, creator friendly models for game funding that builds toward a more positive gaming funding ecosystem. Find and develop relationships with investors interested in being a part of the future of gaming.
Operate effectively with external partners ranging from large game publishers and major media companies to small indie developers
Work closely with internal producers to support key titles on business and operational issues throughout development and post-launch
Work cross-functionally with content, marketing, legal, finance, and engineering teams to negotiate deal terms, drive special projects, advocate internally for partners, and educate on industry norms
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the video game ecosystem and executive contacts for key players
Strong understanding of funding landscape: VC versus project-based funding and the terms that lie within.
Proven ability to structure, execute and develop complex strategic partnerships that create significant value for Bad Robot Games, its partners and stakeholders
Strong direct sales experience working on technology licensing, middleware, or game publishing
Proven skills in promoting and maintaining customer satisfaction
Extensive database of senior contacts throughout the gaming industry and the ability to network
