Description
Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. They develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate reports.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
2. Plans concept by studying information and materials.
3. Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
4. Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
5. Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; purchasing from vendors.
6. Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
7. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment.
8. Completes projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
9. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
10. Determine the message the design should portray.
11. Create images that identify a product or convey a message
12. Develop graphics for product illustrations, logos, and websites
13. Select colors, images, text style, and layout
14. Present the design to clients or the art director
15. Incorporate changes recommended by the clients into the final design
16. Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them
17. Performs other tasks as may be assigned.
