Job Purpose
The International Rice Research Institute is looking for an experienced cloud architect to play a lead role in our continuing transition to a cloud-only world. The person we're looking for has a proven track record in cloud transitions and can ideally work in vendor-agnostic mode across public cloud offerings. Our cloud team manages very diverse workloads including research project-related systems, cloud-hosted ERP systems, and large scientific databases. We're looking for a colleague who can design innovative and creative solutions to translate our needs into efficient, stable and secure systems.
This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and is open for international applications.
Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate cloud computing usage for Research Computing, Cloud ERP systems, and others projects to ensure that the technical solution conforms to the client's requirements
Perform system management of cloud infrastructure
Build on existing cloud resources usage for continuous improvement
Training and evangelization of cloud usage for research and other staff
Responsible for cloud architecture and operational aspects of a multi-institute cloud-based ERP environment
Set up periodic security audits for Linux environment and provision of document available for ITS reference
Transfer knowledge to IRRI staff on Cloud Computing (usage and management), conduct trainings for team members
Qualifications
Master's degree in Management Information Systems or related field with relevant 3 years' experience in Information Technology
Skills Required
Mandatory
Hands-on experience with implementing cloud solution
Relevant formal certifications
Good communication skills
Ability to work in an internationally operated and geographically distributed team
Ability to design innovative and creative solutions to translate our needs into efficient, stable and secure systems
Preferred
With cloud hosting, outsourcing, and operations management
