Summary of Role & Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning & Execution:
-Formulate Fab 4's manufacturing strategy that is aligned with corporate multiple year plan (MYP) with a 5-year horizon, and links well with Maxeon' s cell manufacturing plans.
-Implement a flexible manufacturing plan to meet customers' demand with perfect on-time delivery and quality while meeting and exceeding cost and working capital targets.
-Develop annual and quarterly operating plan in line with long-term strategy. Establish and implement a metrics-driven operating rhythm required to meet or exceed operational targets for each fiscal period.
-Execute business plan utilizing the global operations framework of "People, Purpose, Process" to deliver people-oriented results seamlessly across all regions of the world in a cross-cultural environment.
-Plan, pilot, and implement new technologies in collaboration with Cell Technology Deployment
Operational Improvements:
-Overall Equipment Efficiency: Improve OEE metrics through redesign of workflows, redesign of materials flows reallocation of workers, and management of equipment downtime.
-Productivity: optimize employee levels with output and overhead; develop metrics to track improvements.
-Identify and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework date. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
-Inventory - reduce or eliminate excess & obsolete inventory, reduce raw materials inventory though VMI and improved MRP processes, and improve inventory turns per established targets.
-Capital Efficiency: Implement preventive maintenance practices, improve and increase utilization at process step and manufacturing line levels.
Quality & Safety:
-Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures, including but not limited to safe site operations, training, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, and security.
-Ensure all operations are run according to local laws and regulations and with highest safety standards
-Develop and implement plans for continuous improvement of sustainability metrics in alignment with corporate departments
-Own quality - create a culture of quality and implement end-to-end quality procedures and monitors
-Exercise "design for manufacturing" and "quality at source" practices to proactively manage R&D, product, and supplier quality.
Maxeon Production Excellence (SPE)
-Drive implementation of SPE in the site
-Join quarterly SPE reviews
-Drive and join Kaizen and other lean improvement efforts to reduce waste and drive operational efficiencies
-Implement business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
Cost Reduction:
-Develop internal and external cost benchmarks, and identify cost savings relating to materials, labor, overhead, freight, logistics, and quality.
-Tie operational improvements to direct cost reduction initiatives and deliver per accelerated targets.
-Optimize cost, volume, freight & logistics cost, and inventory to meet customer demand and on-time delivery.
-Improve structural cost of technology by defining and implementing engineering projects for lower cost achievement in material usage efficiency, sourcing, and process improvements by the factory engineering team or in cooperation with Research & Development Departments.
People Management:
-Direct and monitor plant directors and function heads to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures, as well as local laws and regulations.
-Maintain and further improve a culture of performance and accountability
-Implement formal and informal communication mechanisms to inform personnel of decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
-Improve engagement of employees at all levels of the organization
-Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
-Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
New Product Introduction:
-Manage product changes relating to development, sourcing and deployment though a rigorous stage gate process to meet schedule, budget and operational metrics.
-Initiate and coordinate major projects such as plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, and major repairs.
-Develop detailed procedures to ramp manufacturing line up or down with minimal impact on yields, output and capacity utilization.
-Manage contract manufacturing relationships to manage customer demand and supply with minimal and on-time delivery.
Related Experience and Educational Requirements
Minimum Requirements
-Minimum M.S. degree with 10 years of experience at a senior level in a manufacturing environment. Preferably graduate of Electrical Engineering/Physics/Chemical Engineering
-Drive to excel as a team leader and member in a challenging, continually and fast changing, and technologically demanding environment
-General management and demonstrated leadership skills, including the management of contract manufacturing
-Strong business acumen and structured thinking
-Open minded. Wanting to see and implement opportunities to improve continuously
-Proven project management experience
-Strong communication and management skills - both written and verbal; ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
-Strong customer focused attitude
-Demonstrated creativity and innovation
-Ability to develop and formulate a strategy, and exercise good judgement
-Excellent problem-solving track record
-Ability to quickly process large amounts of information, assess critical path issues and drive timely to resolution
-Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
-Experience with LEAN
Preferred Requirements:
-Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in PV industry
-Good understanding of solar cell and/or module technology from concept, design to high volume manufacturing
-Experience in Assembly process (robotics, automotive)
-Product development and introduction of successful manufacturing cost reduction initiatives
