Tasks within the role include:
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, to provide an accurate picture of the company's financial health.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Create budgets and financial forecasts to help the organization plan for future expenses, revenue, and growth.
Accounts Payable: Manage the payment of bills and invoices, ensuring that payments are made accurately and on time.
Accounts Receivable: Monitor and manage the receivables of the organization, tracking customer payments and ensuring timely collections.
Payroll: Process employee payroll, calculate taxes, deductions, and benefits, and ensure compliance with labor laws.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, both at the federal and state levels, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
Auditing: Collaborate with internal or external auditors to ensure financial records are accurate and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
Financial Planning: Assist in long-term financial planning and strategy development, including mergers, acquisitions, and capital investments.
Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, such as market volatility or credit risk, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Financial Systems and Software: Utilize financial software and tools to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to financial regulations and reporting standards, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Cost Control: Implement cost-control measures to optimize spending and improve profitability.
Cash Management: Manage the company's cash flow to ensure there is enough liquidity to cover operating expenses and investments.
Financial Documentation: Maintain organized financial records, including invoices, receipts, contracts, and financial statements.
Financial Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders, including executives, board members, and investors.
Financial Strategy: Contribute to the development of the organization's financial strategy and goals.
Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct special financial analyses and projects as required by management.
Requirements for the role:
Experience as a Financial Controller is highly desirable
At least 5 years experience in an accounting role and finance role
Minimum of 1 year of working experience with Australian businesses
Strong background and knowledge in general accounting and finance
Understand and Interprets Australian Business financials
Experience in XERO, MYOB, Elite Ledger and Tax
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable but not required
High attention to detail
Need to be clear in spoken and written English communication
Strong Analytical, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skill
Good internet speeds to be able to connect via VPN Server
