PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Financial Accountant will be mainly responsible for the accurate and timely recording and maintenance of accounts, ensuring and monitoring regulatory compliance, and maintaining and update of the Fixed Asset Register.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain accurate books of accounts
Review recording and correctness of entries into Pronto by Procurement and Accounts Payable. If there are any mispostings, adjusting entries should be posted weekly;
Booking of accruals, prepayments, and reversals based on the agreed schedule;
Maintain and control accurate and timely vessel accounting;
Maintain and control accurate general accounting for the business ie P&L, Balance Sheet, and Vessel Accounting;
2. Intercompany Reconciliations
Reconciliation of all Intercompany accounts on a monthly basis;
Ensure timely recording of all Intercompany invoices;
Ensure accrual of unbilled invoices.
3. Financial Reporting
Ensure timely month-end close as per plan;
Ensure completion of Overhead, Balance Sheet, and CAPEX Report on the 5th working day of the montH
4. Capital programs and asset register
Maintain and update the fixed asset register;
Proper recording of any new CAPEX raised.
5. Tax
Preparation and submission of all required tax returns-monthly, quarterly, and annually
Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws in the Philippines
Support the Group Tax team in the preparation of the GST monthly claims
6. Foreign exchange
Liaise with the Group Financial Controller to manage foreign exchange exposures and controls in accordance with Group policy
7. Statutory Accounts
Support the annual audit of Austal Philippines Pty Ltd
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
CPA, CIA or CMA
MBA is a plus
With 5 years experience in Finance, audit and taxation
Highly PC literate - Excel, Access
Role is located in Balamban Cebu, the shipbuilding capital of the Philippines.
