Financial Accountant
Job Description:
• Bank reconciliation - General day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations.
• Chart of Account Set Up - From scratch vs reviewing & adjusting existing COA.
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts receivable and payable (including supplier reconciliation).
• Record Manual Journals - Understand MYOB interface in recording manual journals.
• Payroll processing.
• Payroll tax preparation & lodgment and annual reconciliations.
• Workcover annual reconciliations.
• Analyze P&L and Balance Sheet, ensure prepayments and accruals are posted correctly each month.
• Prepare BAS and lodgment including GST reconciliation.
• Prepare IAS and lodgment including payroll reconciliation.
• Set up and post Provisions including provision for Income Tax (where applicable).
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register and post periodic depreciation in software or otherwise.
• Post Equipment Finance Journals and Hire Purchase transactions correctly.
• Prepare and maintain Cash Flow Forecasting for Group Accountant and /or Financial Controller.
• Budget Preparation which will include Annual Budgets and Project Budgets for Group Accountant and /or Financial Controller.
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
• Provide technical support and advice where required.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to find efficiencies.
• Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Develop and document nosiness processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Liaise with the Financial Controller and Group Accountant to improve financial procedures.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or any related.
• Has 3 years of experience in an accounting role or similar.
• Relevant Accounting Qualification or certification (or working towards this).
• Knowledge and experience using Xero for bookkeeping and reporting tasks.
• Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable procedures.
• Knowledge and application of Australian accounting and tax principles.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Experience with accounting software packages.
• In-depth knowledge of MYOB.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• In-depth knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
• Familiar with financial accounting statements.
• Relevant certification.
• Has management and leadership skills.
• Has accuracy and attention to detail.
• Has awareness of business trends.
