Objective of the Position:
Assist the Farm Operations Supervisor in the smooth implementation of in-house and off-site farm operation activities of the Agricultural Research Station - Bay Laguna.
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
Assist the Farm Operations Supervisor in the preparation, lay outing and maintenance of field areas for trials in ARS Bay Laguna and its offsite and ensure the availability of needed materials to meet the needs and requirements of its customers.
Assist in ensuring that all fields, screenhouses, microplots, and small plot trials are in accordance with BASF policies and procedures and that they are done under good agronomic practice for all trial crops.
Help organize farm operations in accordance to written protocols and with established operational and production processes. This includes: (a) managing lay outing, land preparation and crop maintenance of trials for Field Biology and Insecticide Research; (b) managing production, storage and monitoring availability of good quality seeds for Farm Operations, Field Biology and Insecticide Research, and ensuring availability of needed rice varieties and other vegetables seeds in the station by following production schedule; and (c) Assist the FOS in implementing consistently the staggered planting for various host plants in offsites to ensure that there will be an alternative source of host plants in case set-up in the station cannot deliver.
Help ensure the availability of functional farm implements and machineries all throughout the season and year. This involves making sure that all equipment such as air-conditioning units particularly those in the cold storage and generator sets are well-maintained following agreed performance indices and implementing consistently the periodic maintenance service of all farm implements and machineries.
Assist the Admin in the maintenance of plumbing and electrical maintenance of the station facilities.
Ensure cleanliness and good housekeeping in the nurseries, screen houses and tunnels.
Assist the Farm Operations Supervisor in achieving: (a) compliance to Philippine labor standards and other applicable local rules and regulations for dealing with third-party employees; (b) timely and consistent reporting of near misses/incidents; and (c) compliance to Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) - 14001:2015.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required:
Degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering.
With at least 5 years of related work experience in managing farm operations.
Knowledgeable of research process, farm operations (e.g., handling farm implements/machineries, etc.) and agronomy (standard procedure in growing plants).
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in Windows and MS Office Applications.
Demonstrate professionalism and integrity at work.
Demonstrate high level of energy and maintain stable performance under pressure.
Proactive, can work independently and in teams.
Residing or willing to work in Bay, Laguna.
