Company Description
PILMICO ANIMAL NUTRITION CORPORATION, is a subsidiary of Pilmico Foods Corporation wholly owned by Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. We provide customers with high quality feeds for aqua, hogs, poultry as well as customized solutions for large farm accounts.
Since we started in 1998, we have grown and diversified to include swine and layer operations in Tarlac.
Our swine and layer farms employ advanced production systems, with automated feeding and drinking systems. Climate control is achieved in the barns through tunnel ventilation and evaporative cooling system. Our swine genetic program and pullet source selection on the other hand, ensures that we only produce quality market hogs and layers. Strict biosecurity measures are also in place to protect the animals from bacterial and viral disease exposure.
As a total solutions provider, we aim to become a one-stop shop that offers quality feeds, technical support, and a growing range of fresh & quality meats & eggs products. We do this through our four-pillar Diamond Program which consists of: 1) good breeding & genetics, 2) complete healthcare 3) sound management and 4) excellent nutrition & feeding.
Job Description
The Farms Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating activities of Farms Logistics functions - Fulfillment Management, Transportation Management, Depo/Hub Dispatching and Traffic Control for Swine, poultry and other related products in accordance with company policies and procedures.
He/she ensures development and implementation of operational strategies to achieve business goals, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. He/she is a person of high integrity and is loyal to the company.
He/she leads and develops the Farms Logistics Team to ensure that the right people, processes, systems and metrics are in place to support growth and continuous improvement.
He/she understands all the processes associated with the logistics functions and is an expert in the field. The function requires keen customer focus and strong negotiating skills. With the expansion of the company, it is expected that he/she has a genuine passion for learning, is open to operating in some ambiguity and will be happy taking on an expanded role should the opportunity arise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy and Development
Develops and implements strategic quality plans and operational projects / business process initiatives to optimize operations and aligned with the business objectives.
Provides clear direction and general guidance to the department in the formulation and implementation of outbound logistics processes and procedures, and ensures that these are translated and enforced into action to meet operational goals.
Monitor and provide status updates on the implementation of approved projects and initiatives
Strategically manage the network and identify key initiatives to drive year over year total cost improvements, using lean logistics principles and tools.
General Management
Manages the Order Fulfilment business process to ensure that customer orders are served and delivered within the agreed service levels.
Ensure orders are being filled and shipped timely and accurately physically and systematically
Assist in growing our customer base by providing excellent service.
Establish collaboration and coordination with Sales and Operations Team to balance supply and demand planning in ensuring appropriate FG, Spares and Supplies inventory levels and achieving sales volume targets.
Collaborate with Farms Operations, Sales and affiliates to ensure best practices and service level standards are communicated and achieved.
Develop and maintain root cause corrective action procedures including trend analysis resulting in driving process improvements throughout the outbound logistic business process
Ensures to monitor and achieve Farms Logistics KPIs - i.e Fill Rate, OF Lead time, POF.
Develops and implements an effective and efficient distribution of meats, eggs and other related products from point of origin to point of destination to ensure consistent product availability and on-time delivery.
Manages the dispatch and delivery operations to ensure that customer requirements are met by coordinating and implementing operational control compliance.
Ensure that all outbound material transaction is/are aligned to System transaction
Reviews 3rd Party Logistics Contracts & SLAs and ensures implementation of agreed terms and conditions. Initiates review and negotiates rates to achieve optimal cost structure.
Oversee the management and operation of both in house transport vehicles and outsourced transport service providers - lock-ins & per trip truckers to ensure that partners adhere to on-time delivery performance and excellent customer satisfaction.
Prepares and updates risk management plans to address and mitigate operational risks and other possible business disruptions. Ensures contingency plans are in place.
Lead the continuous improvement strategies for Fulfillment, Dispatch and Transport, Quality while leveraging people, process and technology.
Monitor developments, trends and new technologies in Supply Chain Logistics, and keep relevant company departments abreast of these trends and changes in the logistics industry.
Constantly evaluates and improves the overall outbound logistics operations, adapts best practices to meet customer needs and achieve operational efficiency.
Financial Budget and Control
Develop operational budgets and plans that drive efficiency, accountability and year over year performance improvement.
Management of logistics/delivery budget in coordination with concerned department (Finance, Accounting, Sales, etc);
Drives the key functional metrics to reduce overall logistics expense on a per unit basis and improve effectiveness;
Analyses freight cost to monitor performance and plan improvements ensuring resources are properly allocated according to changing needs.
People Management
Lead the Outbound Logistics team with a customer centric vision that provides clear expectations and accountability for performance results.
Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship with strong emphasis on assessing the talent, increase engagement and developing bench strength.
Empower team members to collaborate across boundaries, use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and answer questions; practice mindful escalation by accurately assessing the level of urgency and overall impact to the customer experience or business.
Provide timely feedback in one-on-one meetings and annual reviews based on communicated expectations and KPIs. Correct performance issues and address disciplinary actions in a timely fashion
Supports implementation of team's Individual Development Plan to further enhance technical skill and universal competencies;
Food Safety:
Ensures execution of quality, Halal, health and food safety policy, standards and regulations within the team.
Responsible for reporting problems related to Halal, food safety, and quality management system to identified authorities.
Takes accountability for the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System and religious requirements.
Ensures that the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives are established for the Integrated Management System and are compatible with the context and strategic direction of the organization.
Ensures the integration of the quality management system requirements into the organization's business processes.
Promotes the use of the process approach and risk-based thinking.
Ensures that the resources needed for the quality management system are available.
Communicates the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality management system requirements.
Ensures that the quality management system achieves its intended results.
Engages, directs, and supports persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system.
Promotes improvement and supports other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility.
Other Tasks:
Actively participate in all company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management etc.
Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the team leader.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in logistics or business administration
Experience:
At least 10 years in logistics
At least 5 years cold chain industry handling Food/Meats/poultry
Over 5 years in a managerial or leadership function.
