Job Description
Engineering Manager
With a major shipping company asking us to digitize one of their lines of business,we are scaling our engineering team. An Engineering Manager will be crucial to this growth. We're looking for someone with an equally high IQ as well as EQ to lead a team of engineers and build a first in class platform.
The incumbent should consider this opening like a CTO of sorts. With maximum support but minimal oversight they will be responsible for creating beautiful, high performing and scalable applications while scaling their own methodology through sharing of best practices, management, and mentorship. Connected Freight strives to adopt modern and cost-efficient best practices in our software development process. Candidates that are equally savvy in using a modern agile software development process, TDD, BDD and DDD methodologies; like React, TypeScript, and Google Cloud serverless architecture are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Lead the design, prototyping, development and implementation of Connected Freights logistics solutions.
Set the engineering processes in the team: agile process, the design review process, code reviews
Break down big features to small and manageable user stories and tasks
Be responsible for release timelines and for the balance between quality and speed
Give guidance and code-level feedback to software engineers and data scientists
Provides mentorship to software engineers, helps to shape and drive their career growth.
Requirements
Qualifications
Proven leadership skills, ability to drive change and deliver projects in the startup environment of ambiguity and constantly changing priorities
Demonstrated success in managing a software engineering team of more than 5 people for more than 2 years. Experience managing Data Scientists is a plus.
An avid learner with a hunger to acquire and share new knowledge and skills. We are looking forward to discussing what you have recently learned.
Strong problem-solving skill and ability to think out of the box.
Solid knowledge of cloud technologies (Google Cloud certification is a plus), various programming languages (Go, TypeScript, JavaScript/ React.js and Python are preferred), NoSQL and relational databases, and distributed service-oriented architectures.
Solid understanding of front-end technologies: React, JavaScript, TypeScript, webpack, SASS, HTML, etc
Experience building and running data products in production is a must. This includes data pipelines, use of big-data technologies, data warehouses, and running machine learning algorithms in production.
Strong computer science skills, including optimization and machine learning algorithms.
7+ years of experience in software engineering.
