JOB SUMMARY
The ED coder is responsible for analyzing emergency department patient medical records and assigning accurate ICD diagnosis/es and CPT coding for visits and procedures. The ED coder also provides support to providers and clinical staff for CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM education around coding, billing/revenue recognition, and compliance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify appropriate assignment of E/M, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding into medical management system for code capture, where remote capabilities are available.
Confirm patient demographic, insurance and referring physician information is accurately entered into medical management system.
Confirm insurance verifications and authorizations, as required.
Ability to learn new software and technologies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: A Bachelors Degree holder; Background in medicine, science pharmacology helpful.
With at least 1 year ED Experience
Knowledgeable in ICD and CPT Coding
English proficiency is required for both verbal and written communication.
