Reporting directly to the Leader of Legal Affairs, this position is a unique opportunity for an experienced employment law legal counsel. As such, you will join a dynamic legal team in Canada and will be primarily responsible for providing support to the human resources team as well as the different business units in Canada and for identifying and managing legal risks regarding employment law matters. Your future duties and responsibilities: As a Senior legal counsel, you will be responsible for employment law matters in all jurisdictions in Canada where CGI operates. In such capacity, you will: .Lead complex dispute and litigation matters, support and focus on effective risks management for all business units and the human resources community in Canada on employment law, as well as human rights, privacy pertaining to CGI members and health & safety matters .Insure proactive and preventive recommendations and initiatives in accordance with legal trends, developments and best practices .Coordinate efficiently litigation files and legal services performed by CGI's external legal counsels in Canada .Support and supervise the various employment law activities including pre-litigation and litigation preparation, legal review and drafting of internal documents and policies, investigations and litigation reporting .Provide support and guidance on various internal initiatives and legal matters impacting CGI members in compliance with governing legislation, regulations and policies .Work in collaboration with other internal stakeholders (e.g. Human resources and Privacy Business Partners, Risk and compliance group) Required qualifications to be successful in this role: .Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build close partnerships namely with human resource, corporate, business and legal stakeholders .Strong ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines, workflow, and team execution in a fast-based and demanding work environment .Strong ability to translate legal requirements into understandable risk-based recommendations for internal stakeholders such as business and corporate partners .Highly professional and autonomous with great attention to details and accuracy .Demonstrated leadership skills and mentoring .Demonstrated risk management skills .Strong business acumen, good judgement and pragmatism QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION .University degree in law .Member of the Bar association of any of the Canadian provinces .As a lead for employment law in all jurisdictions in Canada (common and civil law), a good knowledge of both French and English is required EXPERIENCE .7+ years of relevant experience in employment law, which may include combined experience in private law firms and/or in-house legal department, preferably as an employment lawyer in a multinational or large company .Proven expertise in employment law and litigation in numerous jurisdictions in Canada #LI-PM2 What you can expect from us: Insights you can act on While technology is at the heart of our clients' digital transformation, we understand that people are at the heart of business success.
