Job Description *Flexible Mid-shift *People Manager Job Summary: The Director IT People Leader will supervise the Senior IT People Leaders under Data Management, MBPS Reporting and Business Intelligence Shared Services which includes Data Engineers, Quality Engineers, Business Intelligence Analysts and Business Analytics Specialist (Reports Analysts) providing services to MBPS and various Manulife business units. The Data Engineers provides expertise on data warehousing and big data ingestion & processing. The Director IT People Leader should have proven experience in data management from data modeling, mapping, extract-transform-load (ETL) and data ingestion, preparing the data for dashboard or report consumption. The Quality Engineers provides quality assurance service to different kinds of development within Manulife. The Director IT People Leader is expected to incorporate quality testing in most, if not all, development both for MBPS and other Manulife business units. The Business Intelligence teams are the Center of Practice for data visualization requirements of Manulife. It is expected for the Director IT People Leader to provide overall oversight of the engagements, build relationships with the different stakeholders and suggest on the overall solution depending on the business need. The Reporting teams of which, are responsible for generating and delivering performance metrics, management and business reports to senior management of Manulife. The Director IT People Leader should have proven experience in reporting (metrics reporting preferred), analyzing information and ensuring accuracy and reliability of the data throughout the different stages. Other tasks of the Director IT People Leader would include performance management of the group (example: goal setting and performance reviews, coaching, scheduling, allocation of tasks, effective utilization of resources, etc.), service management (example: on time and accurate delivery of output) and Customer Management (example: establish relationships, handle escalations, winning customers, etc.). Key Accountabilities: Supervise a group who provides data, reporting and business intelligence services (ex. Business Intelligence Dashboards and Data Projects) Effectively manage data and analytical projects with business unit counterparts and key stakeholders Effectively administer the use of databases, big data, data processing platforms, business intelligence and data visualization tools for the company Actively influence, negotiate and collaborate with various stakeholders across the company to meet objectives and deliverables Ensure compliance to systems development and data reporting standards Recommend technology and process improvements tools for data management, reporting and data visualization Minimum Skills Requirement to Hire: The candidate: Degree Holder in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a similar course. At least 3 years of people management experience Technical Skills: Applications Programming / Development Experience in any of the following VBA, QlikView, Microsoft Power BI, QlikSense, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, Apache Spark, Apache NiFi. Knowledge in any of the following: SQL Server (Reporting Service, Integration Service and Database service, and complex stored procedures), Oracle, Essbase, Apache Hive, HBase, MongoDB, TeraData (BIGDATA) Strong Intake and demand planning Advance Skills in Microsoft Excel preferred Good understanding of structured analysis and design techniques preferred Management Skills Proven leadership & people/talent management capabilities Able to function as an organizational change agent and see beyond current situations towards enterprise-wide high-level process and systems improvements Good verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes Demonstrated project management & planning skills; balances strategic skills with tactical execution skills Strong motivational, developmental & operational management skills Strong consulting, and negotiation skills; ability to function effectively within matrix management situations & under dynamic mandates Strong analytical skills Coordinates across senior stakeholders to resolve complex issues Executes on strategic resource planning, leads management activities Coaches technology teams as needed and select leaders Builds high performing teams Significant impact to multiple teams Drives the success of a team based on outcomes Removes barriers for team to deliver Soft skills: Strong communication skills - verbal, written & presentation; ability to adapt content to various audiences; communicates effectively at all organization levels Proven interpersonal skills: ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, work with a diverse internal and international customer base Strong attention to details Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to work independently and professionally at all times If you are ready to unleash your potential, it s time to start your career with Manulife/John Hancock.
