POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Program Delivery is a leader within the ecommerce team responsible for establishing a center of excellence for Agile delivery, which includes but is not limited to providing program governance and managing the overall program delivery operating model. The Director will manage a team of Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters that will oversee and coach agile teams through the product development process. The Director will oversee the delivery of all initiatives within scope of the Strategic Programs and Delivery organization, managing trade-offs between cost, speed, and precision as needed.
The Director will establish alignment on an agile methodology to be followed, including agile ceremonies. They will serve as a central leader that coordinates with the AVP of Strategic Programs and Delivery and Director of Strategic Initiatives and Transformation Management to identify and address interdependencies, launch and handover new strategic priorities, and ensure all teams are properly adhering to their development plan (including owning delivery resources and budget).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish COE for Agile delivery, providing program governance and managing the overall delivery operating model
Manage each in-flight strategic initiative's (e.g., merchandizing, transactional, personalization) timeline, initiatives phasing, and value/impact definition
Mentor Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters by sharing best practices and 1:1 coaching on how to standardize, scale and manage multiple agile development teams
Establish alignment on agile methodology to be followed including agile ceremonies (e.g., scrum of scrums, daily standup, planning, grooming, retrospectives, etc.)
Plans and Drives Quarterly Program Increment Planning Sessions
Manage initiative escalations incl. trade-off discussion; further escalate to Strategic Programs and Delivery Leader
Own agile product development process and resources for all Project Mercury product development initiatives
Support management of cross-functional commitments and interdependencies
Identify and mitigate risks to program delivery and outcomes
Facilitate removal of roadblocks
Sequence initiatives (incl. start/stop)
Sign off key messages in workstream related communications
Timely and transparent weekly updates to support MMO check ins
Coordinates and facilitates iterative program level planning ceremonies (such as Product Owner Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt, Program Increment Planning, and System Demos)
Document progress of initiatives to Strategic Programs team and Strategic Programs and Delivery Leader
Sign-off on charters creation/launch and develop & lead initiative owners
Hold initiative owners responsible for delivery
Manage senior stakeholder relationships incl. progress updates, decision making & escalations
Generate enthusiasm for transformation, sustaining the change among workstream
Coach and develop initiative owners and teams throughout the transformation
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate program delivery resources across workstreams and initiatives
Value capture of benefits and investment spend (G&A and operations) in P&L consistent with estimated investment needed to launch initiative
Align onboarding with budgeted staffing plan
Approve additional support where needed
Oversee the delivery of all initiatives, managing trade-offs between cost, speed, and precision as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, MIS, or computer science preferred. MBA a plus
Min 7yrs Scrum Master Certified (ie CSM, SSM)
Min 5yrs SAFe Agilist Certification
Outstanding executive presentation skills
Business and technical (engineering) acumen: Senior leader with demonstrated credibility in workstream area and credibility with eCommerce leadership & initiative owners
Has led sizable programs and/or projects successfully from ideation to planning to execution & benefits delivery
Deeply understands Agile methodology: Capable of explaining and instilling agile best practices to members inside and outside their organization
Ability to influence with and without direct authority and work collaboratively with others both inside and outside the eCommerce Organization
Understanding of customer needs and the role the website plays in the end-to-end customer journey for both brands
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Leadership presence: Has ability to influence junior and senior members inside and outside their organization
Mentorship: Can lead and mentor a team of highly technical Scrum Masters
