Position Summary:
This position is an integral part of the Newbuild department leadership team, responsible for development of digital tools, standardization of processes and leading change efforts portfolio-wide to drive efficiencies in day-to-day ship building operations across multiple stakeholders. This Director will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management. To be successful in this role you must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, and communication skills. This is a highly collaborative role working with team members across a global organization. You will be responsible for managing a team of oversees developers, creating digital tools for the larger Newbuild organization as well as a Miami-based strategy team focused on Business Excellence strategies and execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish a portfolio of technology development projects in support of our strategic ambitions that aide our larger Newbuild organization to track and report goals, objectives, milestones, responsibilities, scope, overall timeline and dependencies
Ensure all portfolios have strategic, documented time frames, spanning 2-6-years
Formulate and implement an effective communication strategy to build support and understanding of the Business Excellence program, its specific individual initiatives, and the overall results
Manage each performance improvement initiative on an aggressive basis to formulate action plans accepted by the organization and to realize specific bottom-line and customer service level improvements.
Deploy project management methodologies and a high level of tenacity and persistence to bring projects to successful conclusions with common agreement on the beneficial results
Initiate action to prevent the re-occurrence of any process issues relating to the lifecycle of a Newbuild or Fleet Modernization project.
Proactively interface with all stakeholders in a project and program for the purpose of examining project status, monitoring progress, resolving issues and ensuring mitigation to potential risks.
Consistently scan the world for new ideas and stay abreast of new technological developments, ensuring that RCG maximizes opportunities for development and implementation of new technology that can help create a competitive advantage
Lead strategic elements of development and implementation of data and digital strategies
Ensure that we effectively manage our technology risks in practical terms through technology, qualification, fit-for-purpose process and peer reviews
Help build a continuous improvement mindset and approach in our day-to-day work
Play an important role in helping Newbuild evolve its corporate culture and actively promote collaboration and teamwork
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
15+ years or more of relevant experience in strategy, leading teams, driving change and implementing continuous improvement across large organizations
Must be familiar with entire ship design process inclusive of concept design, detailed design (drawing, dimensioning, floor plans, elevations), classification process and ship construction
Must be a strong leader, proactive, organized and having the ability to take initiatives as well as follow through is a must
Proficiency in MS Office suite applications (including Outlook and Projects)
Familiarity with shipyard design and calculation tools as well as an understanding of database and application structure
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
Demonstrates an industry leading capability to develop and drive partnerships
Promotes a culture of innovation encouraging new ideas, challenging the status quo, and supporting fresh perspectives while holding others accountable for the rights results
Demonstrates a passion for service, with a strong commitment to deliver a superior customer experience
Exceptional interpersonal skills plus strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management
