DevOps Criteria and Credentials:
The DevOps Engineer Associate is responsible for implementing, supporting, and discovering industry standards and best practices. The DevOps Engineer Associate will perform deployments of applications to multiple environments as well as provide user support to our customers. This DevOps Engineer Associate will also be responsible for resolving issues in application environments. In addition, the DevOps Engineer Associate will assist with the overall infrastructure of the project, including the coordination of environment infrastructure upgrades. The DevOps Engineer Associate will assist in defining develop processes and procedures to enhance the development environment through automation.
Criteria of experience to include:
• Support as a member of a team following a well-defined Agile SDLC.
• Understand source and version control tools. Emphasis on Microsoft Azure DevOps including Git/TFVC, Visual Studio, Git Bash, or Git for Windows is a plus.
• Execute any SDLC tasks, including (but not limited to) merge, build, release, operations, and day to day maintenance and administration.
• Installation and configuration of software in virtualized environments to ensure high Availability. High focus on Windows OS but some Linux/Unix support.
• Support product development teams in the delivery of continuous integration, continuous deployment.
• Experience automating with Terraform, Ansible, Packer, PowerShell, Bash, YAML, JSON, Nexus or industry equivalent is a plus.
• An understanding of Azure and AWS working environments, Docker related experience is a plus.
• Understanding of Active Directory Administration including management of group membership in team supported OU.
• Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills and the ability to find enterprise solutions and comfortable thinking out of the box.
• Participate in afterhours maintenance when necessary, respond to emergencies.
• Participate in customer calls when called upon in support of initiatives and incident response.
• Ability to support within On-Call rotation requiring periodic weekend deployment support.
o On-call rotation, based on skills and understanding can start 6-8 months of joining the team and is around once per 6-7 weeks (subject to change - based on staff).
Hours of Coverage:
Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week.
First American will provide work schedules conducive to meeting customer demand, which fluctuate on an on-going basis. Such schedules will be updated from time-to-time. Hours of coverage may include any or all of the following US holidays: President's Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. First American shall inform in advance (40 hours) of any holidays on which services shall not be required. The daily timings are on average relative to business hours in the Pacific Time Zone.
Key Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
At least 1 year experience as a DevOps engineer
Familiarity with software release management and deployment (Git, CI/CD)
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices
Knowledge of systems and platforms security
