JOB TITLE
Desktop Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of desktop systems and related infrastructure. The Desktop Engineer will play a key role in managing virtual desktop environments, utilizing SCCM, Intune, and other technologies to ensure a secure, efficient, and seamless end-user computing experience.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Design, deploy, and maintain desktop systems and related infrastructure to ensure optimal scalability, performance and reliability.
Provide end-user support for desktop-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems in a timely manner.
Manage and support virtual desktop environments, ensuring a seamless and responsive experience for end-users.
Utilize technologies such as VMware Horizon or Citrix to optimize virtual desktop infrastructure.
Administer System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune for desktop management and application deployment.
Develop and implement software deployment strategies, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
Implement and maintain endpoint security solutions to protect desktop systems from security threats.
Stay current on industry best practices and emerging trends in desktop security.
Develop and maintain scripts for automating desktop management tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
Implement patch management processes to keep desktop systems up-to-date and secure.
Coordinate patch deployment schedules to minimize impact on end-users.
Collaborate with other IT teams, providing expertise on desktop-related matters and contributing to cross-functional projects.
Communicate effectively with end-users, providing clear instructions and support.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for desktop configurations, processes, and procedures.
Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant team members.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Proven experience as a Desktop Engineer or VDE, with a focus on virtual desktop environments, SCCM, and Intune.
Strong understanding of desktop operating systems, including Windows 10.
Familiarity with endpoint security solutions and best practices.
Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
Strong understanding of user profile management in virtual desktop environments.
Familiarity with security best practices for virtual desktop infrastructure.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Citrix Certified Associate (CCA) is a plus.
