Job Description:
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: * Manage design engineering personnel to meet design requirements of dedicated device kits.
Develop and maintain reporting of departmental metrics and general activity updates for senior management.
Develop and implement process to optimize design cycle time.
Interface with key customers to determine and meet future requirements.
Improve infrastructure for kits, including systems for design rules and standardized design. Assess staff level experience to develop and implement training plans as needed.
Utilize design review results to improve design and manufacturability.
Lead and motivate staff to meet customers' and company's requirements.
Actively develop and maintain continuous process improvement programs in design engineering operations.
Supervises the engineering supervisor(s), mechanical designer, technical assistant, design engineers and document controllers.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree in engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in high technology engineering field. Minimum of three years managerial experience in design.
Skills/Technical Requirements: Knowledge of semiconductor packaging and testing. Practical experience with latest version of SolidWorks/AutoCAD. Strong interpersonal and project coordinator skills including ability to critique work group members' output, provide technical or other guidance to the work group and facilitate design reviews. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands/Strengths:
Prolonged periods of sitting at the computer terminal. Must be able to work in vicinity or moving machinery to observe mechanisms. Occasional exertion, able to lift 30 pounds.
Job Conditions:
Domestic and international travel required. Work in an office and manufacturing environment with constant or intermittent noise.
Protective Devices Required:
PPE in required areas.
