MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Lead DBA production support for all data management needs
Lead database design and implementations on premise, private and public cloud
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all database estates in AXA Asia - Oracle and RDS/PostGres mainly but also MS SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB)
Physical architectural design of database platforms and clusters
Design and implement High Availability capabilities for the database platform
Develop best practices and implementation patterns for database implementation in the public cloud (installation, configuration)
Logical design of database schemas to support application requirements
Maintain database security according to Global Information Security guidelines.
Optimize operational procedures, e.g. backup/restore, monitoring/alerting, database provisioning/de-provisioning, etc.
Performance tuning of databases to meet application requirements
Provide guidance and on the job coaching to junior DBAs and Data Developers where necessary.
Participate in project teams as Database subject matter expert
Participate in periodic audit reviews and remediation exercises.
Patch management for all databases implementation via an infrastructure team
Production incident management and support at all severity levels (P1/P2/P3/P4)
Resolve production outage/ incidents with analysis, user communications, user clarifications, verification, documentation and follow up until
Problem Management - Perform/contribute to root cause analysis post incident restoration and provide activities/changes required to permanently resolve the root cause.
Continuous improvement for database platform e.g. Improve operation efficiency by automation, suggest new elements for monitoring for preventive maintenance
Coordination:
Production deployment activities
Production incident and problem resolution with other supporting teams and/or vendors
Preventive Maintenance - mainly performance monitoring and tuning
Manager database support vendors to perform tasks listed above.
Change Management: Performs thorough reviews of Prod Support Proposed Solution, which will impact Databases (e.g. review of exchange plan and ensure change will not cause adverse issue in production).
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE (MANDATORY)
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in CSE, EE, CSM, or related technical discipline.
10+ years of DBA experience in an enterprise production environment. Experience working in high-availability environments is a plus.
2+ years of DBA experience on public cloud environment
Strong working knowledge of Oracle11g/12c, MS SQL 2012/2014
Strong working knowledge of Amazon RDS/PostGres SQL
Strong working knowledge of various database clustering architecture and technologies
Strong experience on database performance tuning
Good experience in SQL tuning
Good experience in logical database design
Oracle OCP qualification or equivalent level of knowledge.
Strong working knowledge in Linux and Windows
Good knowledge of ITIL processes.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Be able to working outside of normal operational hours when required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)
Good experience in NoSQL, DB2 , Hadoop
Working experience in Asia countries, with understandings of the country characteristics, cultures and work style, is an advantage.
